About the Journal
Journal Overview
The Journal of Smart Education, Artificial Intelligence Integration & Sustainable Innovation is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing theoretical, empirical, and methodological scholarship at the intersection of education, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and sustainability. The journal provides an interdisciplinary forum for the critical examination of technological innovation and its implications for educational theory, pedagogical practice, institutional development, and sustainable societal progress.
The journal seeks to advance scholarly understanding of how emerging technologies are conceptualised, developed, implemented, and evaluated across educational settings. It welcomes contributions that offer substantive theoretical insights, robust empirical evidence, methodological advances, or critical analyses of the opportunities, limitations, and implications of technology-mediated educational innovation. Particular emphasis is placed on research that connects technological developments with educational quality, ethical responsibility, inclusion, institutional capacity, and long-term sustainability.
Aims and Scope
The journal aims to advance rigorous, evidence-informed scholarship on the relationships between educational innovation, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and sustainable development. It seeks to foster interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers in education, computer science, information systems, educational technology, organisational studies, sustainability, and related disciplines.
Its scope encompasses, but is not limited to, the following areas:
-
Artificial intelligence in education: generative AI, intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning, educational analytics, AI-supported assessment, and human–AI collaboration.
-
Smart education and digital learning: technology-enhanced pedagogy, intelligent learning environments, digital educational platforms, immersive technologies, accessibility, and inclusive learning design.

-
Emerging technologies and future learning: multimodal AI, educational data mining, digital twins, virtual and augmented reality, computational approaches to learning, digital citizenship, and the development of future-oriented competencies.
The journal welcomes original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, theoretical and conceptual contributions, methodological studies, and evidence-based case studies. Submissions may employ quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, experimental, computational, or design-based approaches, provided that the chosen methodology is appropriate to the research question and the manuscript makes a clear contribution to the relevant body of scholarship.
Interdisciplinary research is particularly encouraged where it establishes meaningful connections between technological innovation, educational processes, institutional practices, and sustainability. Research originating in biology, medicine, health sciences, and other disciplinary fields may be considered where its principal contribution is demonstrably relevant to educational research, learning technologies, professional education, or the journal's broader scholarly remit. The journal does not seek to serve as a general outlet for research whose primary focus lies outside these areas.
Editorial Standards and Peer Review
The journal is committed to editorial independence, rigorous peer review, methodological transparency, and the responsible dissemination of scholarly knowledge. Editorial decisions are informed by the originality and significance of the research, its theoretical or conceptual grounding, the appropriateness of its methodology, the quality of its evidence, the clarity of its reporting, and its relevance to the journal's aims and scope.
The journal prioritises manuscripts that advance understanding beyond the description of technological tools or applications. Submissions should articulate a clearly defined research problem, engage critically with relevant scholarship, justify their methodological choices, and establish the significance and limitations of their findings. Claims concerning educational effectiveness, technological performance, institutional improvement, or sustainability should be proportionate to the evidence presented.
Research involving artificial intelligence or digital interventions should, where relevant, explain the technological approach, its intended function, the basis for its evaluation, and the ethical considerations associated with its use. The journal also encourages transparent reporting of research limitations and, where appropriate, data availability, analytical procedures, and measures supporting reproducibility.
All submissions are subject to the journal's established editorial assessment and peer-review procedures. Information concerning the review model, editorial decision-making, and manuscript processing is provided in the relevant publication policies.
Open Access and Publishing Policy
The journal adopts an open-access publishing model intended to facilitate the dissemination and accessibility of scholarly research across international academic and professional communities. Its publishing practices are guided by principles of research integrity, responsible scholarship, and transparent communication.
The applicable conditions governing access, copyright, licensing, and publication charges are specified in the journal's published policies. Any article processing charges, waivers, or other publication-related fees are communicated transparently to authors before submission or publication, as applicable.
Research Ethics and Publication Integrity
The journal expects authors, reviewers, and editors to uphold recognised principles of research integrity, accuracy, fairness, confidentiality, and accountability. Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their submissions, appropriate attribution of sources, accurate representation of findings, disclosure of relevant conflicts of interest, and compliance with applicable ethical and regulatory requirements.
Research involving human participants, personal data, or other ethically sensitive materials must comply with the relevant institutional and regulatory requirements. Where applicable, manuscripts should report ethical approval, informed consent, and safeguards for confidentiality and data protection. Authors must also disclose the use of artificial intelligence in research or manuscript preparation in accordance with the journal's applicable policies.
Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of publication misconduct are incompatible with the journal's standards. Allegations of misconduct, as well as concerns arising after publication, are addressed in accordance with the journal's established procedures and applicable publication-ethics guidance.
